At the Gastroenterology Group of Northern NJ, our 07631 gastroengeronologist provides patients with care for all aspects of gastrointestinal disease. We treat disorders such as acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, and perform colonoscopy procedures at our offices. Our colonoscopy procedure allows us to visually examine the internal structure of the colon in order to search for disease or irregularities.
Our 07631 gastroenteronologist performs colonoscopy procedures by inserting a tube with a camera into the colon area and transmits images from the camera to a display monitor. This helps us identify symptoms associated with abdominal pain, bloody stools, and other problems stemming from the colon. It is also done as a regular screening for colorectal cancer, which can start age age 50. The procedure itself is quick and painless. Before the procedure, an anesthetic through IV is given to relax the patient. During the procedure, the patient’s vital signs are monitored as the patient’s colon is examined. The entire procedure takes anywhere from 15-20 minutes, whereupon biopsies and polyp removal are done if needed. Normal activities can be resumed immediately after, although some minor cramping or bloating may be experienced.
Along with colonoscopies and screening for colon cancer and polyps, our 07631 gastroenteronologist also treats diseases such as Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis, hepatitis and disases or conditions of the pancreas and gallbladder. Our knowledge in the use of immune modulating therapies as well as biologic therapies helps us treat and diagnose these and other conditions. Our physicians are highly trained, with expertise in advanced endoscopic procedures which include video capsule endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound. Our state of the art endoscopy center in Englewood Cliffs works in conjunction with Englewood Hospital and Physician’s Endoscopy, allowing us to employ certified anesthesiologists and nurses on site. We pride ourselves on offering the New York metro area the best in high quality care and have been practicing for over 50 years.
